As if Larry Johnson’s inability to make plays was bad enough, he now seems to be self-destructing before our very eyes. It appears to be a matter of when, not if, Charles becomes the No. 1 option running the football in Kansas City. Larry Johnson is a clown. The sooner the Chiefs are rid of this cancer, the better.

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009We’ve been really hard on the Raiders on their drafting of Darius Heyward Bey. Reading this article it seems we were on the right track…

No Charges for Oakland Coach
Friday, October 23rd, 2009It seems the local district attorney has let Oakland Coach Tom Cable off the hook. No charges will be filed. With the putrid play of JaMarcus Russell, any victory, even one like not being charged with assault for breaking the jaw of an assistant coach, has to be celebrated in the Raiders organization.
SEC Suspends Refs
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009The crew working the Florida/Arkansas game has been suspended for one game by SEC officials. After several questionable calls, all seemingly going in Florida’s favor, many fans have questioned the integrity of the SEC conference. This was the same crew that called a absurd excessive celebration penalty on Georgia’s AJ Green just a few weeks ago. Of course, bad calls happen in every game. But the SEC has moved swiftly and decisively to stamp out any question of unfairness. By suspending this crew, they have sent the message that bad officiating, like we have seen, will not be tolerated.
Saints Looking Like a Champ
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009With their victory over the previously unbeaten New York Giants, the New Orleans Saints are looking like the team to beat in NFC. Drew Brees is playing like an MVP, the receivers are talented, and the running game is doing more than enough to keep defenses honest. But what is really the key to the Saints success is the defense. Head Coach Sean Payton took a $250,000 pay cut so that the team could afford to bring in Greg Williams as Defense coordinator and the sacrifice is paying dividends in a big way. Not to mention, when your Head Coach is willing to do that to make the team better, imagine how much respect that gets in the locker room. Look for the Saints to be a major player in this season’s championship run.
Connecticut Player Murdered
Monday, October 19th, 2009In a sickening tragedy, UCONN cornerback Jasper Howard was stabbed to death at a school dance only hours after the Huskies Homecoming victory. No arrests have been made and police are continuing to investigate. Two of Howard’s teammates held him in their arms as he died. Howard was the first member of his family to attend college.
Rush had no Chance
Friday, October 16th, 2009With Rush Limbaugh being dropped from the group trying to buy the Rams, it’s time to state that the controversial radio host never had even a slight chance of owning an NFL team. You can’t have an owner of league where 78% of the players are African-American making racist comments on the air to millions of people. He was fired from ESPN for his comments about Donovan McNabb. And his rants on the radio have come back to haunt him.
By all accounts, Rush loves the NFL. He desperately tried to become one of the Monday Night Football announcers. But the very thing that has made him one of the most powerful men in politics today, is what will keep him from ever owning a team. He doesn’t hold back when talking. That’s great for radio. Horrible for an NFL owner.
Two Heisman Hopefuls Facing Off
Wednesday, October 14th, 2009This week is the Red River Shootout between Texas and Oklahoma. Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy both started this season as Heisman front runners. But both have failed to deliver the kind of season that voters expected. Bradford due to injury and McCoy due to inconsistency. Now is both of their chances to once again get in the mix. If either one of them blow up for huge numbers, look for them to get right back into the mix.
Alabama’s Tide is Rising
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009Show us a better team right now than the Alabama Crimson Tide. A strong running game, playmakers at receiver, and the meanest defense in the land make Nick Saban’s team the best in the country. After dismantling the heavily pre-season hyped Ol Miss Rebels, the Tide sent a message to would be pretenders. It looks like they are on a collision course with Florida in the SEC Championship game. Every college football fan will be the winner in that contest.
Superman is Back
Monday, October 12th, 2009Tebow came back and led his Florida Gators to a huge win over the LSU Tigers. After suffering from a concussion from a violent hit, it was unclear whether the wonder boy would be able to play. But if there was any doubt that Mr. Tebow is one of the toughest guys to play to college football, they were erased after his gutsy performance.
