Don’t Be So Quick To Judge Texas
Tuesday, December 8th, 2009After barely surviving the Big12 Championship against Nebraska, Texas is having to defend its inclusion into the National Championship Game. Sure, Alabama looked like world beaters against Florida, but it wasn’t that long ago where Bama needed its own miracle, two blocked fg’s against Tennessee, to remain unbeaten. They also almost lost to Auburn as well. Any team can have a bad day. The great ones find a way to win. Texas did. Let’s also not forget that Nebraska’s defense is one of the best of the country. Arguing that Texas doesn’t deserve a spot in the game because of the close game does a great disservice to the Cornhuskers.
#1 Florida vs. #2 Alabama
Monday, November 30th, 2009Next week is going to be a monster week in college football. We’ve got conference championships on the line all day long. And no game is bigger than the SEC Title game. With the top two teams in the country squaring off for a chance to play in the National Championship, this game could’t get any bigger. Will Tebow be able to move the ball against the Tide’s physical defense? Will Ingram be able to punish the Gators defenders? This game has it all…
3 Tennessee Players Arrested
Thursday, November 12th, 2009After mocking Urban Meyers dedication to discipline ,looks like Lane Kiffin will have the opportunity to put his money where his mouth his. Three UT football players have been arrested after holding up customers in a gas station parking lot. The players used a pellet gun and drove off after the customers proved they had no money. They were arrested soon after.
With star freshmen safety Janzen Jackson one of the players arrested, it looks like Tennessee is about to lose a big part of their secondary and a player that was to be a foundation for years to come. It’s just amazing how stupid some people can be.
Texas in a Good Spot
Monday, November 2nd, 2009It really doesn’t matter if Texas is ranked 2 or 3 in the BSC rankings. With Florida and Alabama set to collide in the SEC championship game, one of them will get knocked out of national championship consideration. And Texas, after having soundly defeating Mizzou and Oklahoma State, is past the difficult part of its schedule. All the Longhorns must do is win out, and they will have guaranteed themselves a place in the Championship game.
SEC Suspends Refs
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009The crew working the Florida/Arkansas game has been suspended for one game by SEC officials. After several questionable calls, all seemingly going in Florida’s favor, many fans have questioned the integrity of the SEC conference. This was the same crew that called a absurd excessive celebration penalty on Georgia’s AJ Green just a few weeks ago. Of course, bad calls happen in every game. But the SEC has moved swiftly and decisively to stamp out any question of unfairness. By suspending this crew, they have sent the message that bad officiating, like we have seen, will not be tolerated.
Connecticut Player Murdered
Monday, October 19th, 2009In a sickening tragedy, UCONN cornerback Jasper Howard was stabbed to death at a school dance only hours after the Huskies Homecoming victory. No arrests have been made and police are continuing to investigate. Two of Howard’s teammates held him in their arms as he died. Howard was the first member of his family to attend college.
Missouri Tigers & Blaine Gabbert – They ARE who we thought they WERE!
Friday, October 9th, 2009Yes, the Missouri Tigers are who we thought they were! The general public was fooled in gaining some respect for the over-rated Tigers due to their soft opening schedule and knocking off 4 wins against four very weak opponents. These four wins came from beating up on a DIV.II furman team, and 3 other Div.I opponents that have a combined record of 3-10! Not to mention that Missouri struggled against a very poor Bowling Green team and had to rally in the 2nd half to pull off the “W”.
Now, with that said the future for Blaine Gabbert looks to be bright, but this MU team is not a team that can challenge for the big 12 North title in 2009. Their defense is soft, except for 1 play maker in Weatherspoon, and their offense is not the same lineup from the past 3 years that could strike down the field at any given moment . Nebraska’s defensive lineman “Suh” took on the Tigers entire offensive line by him self and still managed to cause a fumble, injure Blaine Gabbert, and pick off a poor pass that led to a Nebraska lead changing touchdown. If MU’s offensive line can not handle one playmaker on the oppenents defensive line, then more embarrassment is sure to come when facing Big 12 powerhouses such as Texas and Oklahoma State.
The general public jumped all over the MU bandwagon on Thursday night, laying 69% wagers on the Tigers, but our ATSWinners handicapping team released their play of the week on Nebraska and The Under to allow our members to cash in easily! We will most likely not see such a generous line against the Tigers the rest of the season as they start to face stronger oppenents; so Thursday night was a gift from the linemakers in which our handicapping team took advantage of. Now that the MU Tigers are exposed for who they really are this year, the linemakers will have no choice but to spot the once-proud Tigers team double digit points as they get into the heart of their conference schedule.
“The Missouri Tigers ARE who we thought they WERE” prior to the season beginning, and their season should be considered a success if they can somewhoe muster up “7 wins”.
On a side note….Our handicappers are releasing their highest unit play this weekend to date in college football, so sign up now and beat your book with us!
Ole Miss Cant Live Up to the Hype
Friday, September 25th, 2009Every year it seems that there are a few teams that receive a ton of preseason love from the pundits. Despite the fact that Ole Miss hasn’t really looked all that impressive this year, they had managed to turn their pre-season expectations into a #4 ranking. All that came crashing down last night as the Rebels were dominated by the Gamecocks. Already this year we’ve seen pre-season titans Oregon and Oklahoma State get exposed, and now the Rebels join their ranks. It just goes to show how hard it really is to move into the elite of the elite in college football.
